The backup destination

In general, the backup destination can be local or remote to the backup source. Using Windows map network drive to share over the remote drive or folder. The shared drive can then be used as backup destination.

An initial full backup is recommended so that a well matched file structure in the destination and the source folders will ensure accuracy and efficiency of the backup process.

Following picture is an example of a backup plan's destination path viewed from Windows Explorer.

Under the destination folder acctbackup, some levels of sub-folders are listed above the backup sources C:\myfolder.

They are:

1. The first sub-level of EzOpenBackup is to keep all things related to EzOpenBackup Plus! application to be separated from other files the acctbackup folder may store.
   
2. The next level of sub-folders are LastBackup and PreviousBackup. As their names indicated, these folders are to be used to keep last version and all previous versions of modified files.

   As seen in this example, the exact file structure of the backup source are kept in both LastBackup and PreviousBackup folders. This is so designed for easy file restore.

   1. The familiar file structure makes finding a file easy
   2. When needed, the entire sub-folder can be copied back to the source folder with the matching structure.

NOTE:
The empty folders in source will not be copied to the Destination when performing a backup. EzOpenBackup Plus! will create the folder in the destination when files are added to an empty folder in the source.

To restore files from the backup location

The most noteworthy advantage of EzOpenBackup Plus! is that files in the backup location can be restored without any backup applications. Direct from Windows Explorer and copy/paste the files or the entire file structure, users can restore files back to a location desired.

In following example, the backup source is C:\myfolder and the backup destination is E:\acctbackup\EzOpenBackup\PreviousBackup\C\myfolder.
